The internet gives us access to an extraordinary amount of information. Search engines can produce millions of results in seconds, while artificial intelligence can now answer many questions almost instantly.
But sometimes an answer alone isn't enough.
You may also want to understand why something works, whether the information is current, where it came from, or where you can go to check it for yourself.

AskBelow is intended to provide straightforward explanations of practical and interesting questions without making the answer unnecessarily complicated.
Where appropriate, articles will also point visitors towards useful original and authoritative sources, giving them somewhere to continue their research or take the next step.

What will AskBelow cover?
AskBelow is not intended to be limited to a single subject. Questions may cover travel and places, money, technology, public information, everyday life and general explanations.
Some answers may be relatively simple. Others may require additional explanation, current information or links to specialist and official resources.
The subjects covered will develop naturally over time, based partly on the questions people are actually trying to answer.
Information and sources
AskBelow aims to make information easier to understand, but it should not be necessary to simply take our word for it.
Where it is useful and practical, we will provide links to government websites, official organisations, original sources and other established resources so visitors can verify information or investigate a subject in greater detail.
Information can also change. Dates and context will therefore be included where they are important to understanding an answer.
A website in development
AskBelow is currently at an early stage.
Rather than filling the website quickly with large numbers of pages, the intention is to develop it gradually and concentrate on information that is genuinely useful.
New questions, subjects and resources will be added over time as AskBelow develops.
We don't expect to have an answer to everything. But we'll keep asking questions.
